Curate
A downloadable game
Curate is a collaborative worldbuilding game about material culture for you to download, print out if you want, and play in person or over Telegram or Discord.
It’s designed for 2-6 players of any age, but there’s no reason you can’t play it with more, or even as a solo game. Many real-world museums have some ethical issues associated with them, including embedded racism or sexism and displaying stolen or looted artefacts. You don’t have to explore these themes with Curate – you can easily run a completely ethical museum – but this game can be a good tool for you to think about them. (If you're interested in reading more about the ethical issues with many museums, this article is a good place to start, or look up the Elgin Marbles.)
How it Works
The premise of Curate is that you collectively run a museum. During your turns, you create galleries, collections, and objects. Civilisations, people, periods, and artistic styles emerge from that, and narratives on any and every scale can be found in the collections you create.
